First of all, I love my work. I have
been a Registered Dietitian in private practice for several years
now and continue to find new ways to love what I do. I am currently the
Medical Nutrition Therapist at the Seattle Arthritis Clinic
in Seattle and I see a broad range of very complex immune and chronic issues every
day. My specialty is helping my patients feel less pain and improve
chronic symptoms through making changes in the diet. The more I work
with my clients and see how changing the diet changes them, the more I
learn what a powerful role food plays in the body. And the more I love
my job.
I received my Master's degree in Nutrition Science from Bastyr
University, the leading university in natural and alternative medicine,
and was also trained in more traditional approaches at the Virgina Mason
Medical Center in Seattle, WA. Having both alternative and
traditional training in nutrition has been critical in helping me understand the gap that must be bridged between the two perspectives.
Other points of interest on the resume: In the past, adjunct faculty and Clinic Supervisor at
Bastyr University; Advisory Board for LeViv Nutritionals; owner of
FoodLogic, private practice; speaker at numerous conferences and
universities. Pre-Nutrition you would find me as a Contributing Editor at
Conde Nast Traveler magazine, and a 25-year veteran actor.
